The North Vancouver Chamber understands the importance of a strong public transit system for connecting workers, moving goods, and supporting economic growth on the North Shore.
With TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan now approved, we’re proud to have supported this important step forward for our region.
Earlier this year, the North Vancouver Chamber submitted a formal letter to the Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation and TransLink’s Board of Directors, voicing strong support for the plan—particularly the extension of the R2 RapidBus from Phibbs Exchange to Metrotown. We see this project as a vital advancement in unlocking economic opportunity for North Vancouver and improving regional connectivity.

North Shore congestion continues to be one of the most significant barriers to economic growth in our area. It limits access to employment and hinders the movement of goods and people. The R2 RapidBus extension represents a meaningful improvement in fast, frequent, and reliable public transit service—an essential step toward the future of Bus Rapid Transit, which we continue to champion.
We also support a 70% increase in annual funding for the Major Road Network pavement rehabilitation program, ensuring better road conditions for the transportation of goods and services.
These investments are more than transportation improvements—they are economic enablers. We believe these projects will significantly benefit our businesses, non-profits, workers, and communities by improving connectivity and reducing transportation barriers.
This advocacy builds on our ongoing efforts to improve transit access and infrastructure for North Vancouver.
The North Vancouver Chamber remains committed to working closely with TransLink, local leaders, and regional partners to ensure that transportation planning reflects the needs of our growing and diverse business community.
