Here’s your chance to roll up your sleeves, breathe in some fresh forest air, and be part of something fin-tastic!
The Seymour Salmonid Society is offering an exclusive, hands-on volunteer opportunity for North Vancouver Chamber members on May 22. Join their team at the Seymour River Hatchery and Education Centre to help transport 20,000 steelhead smolts — young salmon preparing for their journey to the ocean — from outdoor ponds to transport trucks. These fish are headed for release near Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver, and you could be part of this incredible migration moment!
Date: Wednesday, May 22
Time: 9:00 a.m. to around noon (rain or shine!)
Meeting Point: Rice Lake security gate, Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, (carpooling to hatchery from there)
What You’ll Do: Help transfer smolts from the hatchery ponds to the trucks
Only 5 spots available! Are you in?
