Putting North Van business issues in the provincial spotlight!

The NV Chamber amplified the collective voice of our business community and celebrated a big advocacy win at the BC Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting, held in Kelowna from May 28 to 30, and attended by 180 delegates from across the province.

The annual meeting of Chamber executives, politicians, and policymakers serves as a conduit to translate the concerns and priorities of the North Vancouver business community into actionable policies and initiatives.

We are pleased to report that our latest policy resolution, Businesses & Communities Win When We Build New BC Ferries In B.C., was endorsed by the BC Chamber of Commerce business membership, and joins a list of locally-developed policies representing the broad business interests of North Vancouver.

During the conference, NV Chamber CEO Patrick Stafford-Smith attended sessions with the Hon. Brenda Bailey, B.C. Minister Of Jobs, Economic Development And Innovation, B.C. Conservative Party Leader John Rustadand, and B.C. Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau.

The NV Chamber discussed housing and transportation issues and heard from a wide variety of industry leaders and subject matter experts on topics including the interplay of productivity and innovation, the power of artificial intelligence, and how to navigate B.C.’s labour shortage.

Stafford-Smith also met with B.C. Parliamentary Secretary for International Credentials, Ravi Parmar, and caught up with NV Chamber member Ashraf Amlani, principal & co-founder, Bunyaad Public Affairs, who presented the session Addressing The Labour Market Gap – From An Employer’s Perspective.

The BC Chamber of Commerce is a trusted partner to the government and a strong voice in shaping the decisions and policies that drive our economy. Resolutions adopted at the AGM, including our build-local shipbuilding policy, become part of the BC Chamber’s advocacy agenda with the provincial government.
