The Power to Grow

North Vancouver has a long-standing reputation for environmental leadership. That same commitment is now shaping how the community approaches its food system. From climate-conscious packaging to local growing systems, the focus is on solutions that protect land, reduce emissions, and support long-term resilience.

The B.C. Centre for Agritech Innovation (BCCAI) is at the forefront, empowering local agri-businesses with value-added services, including access to innovation and technology experts (locally and globally), training and upskilling, and funding to develop and adopt technologies that enhance productivity and profitability while securing the food value chain amidst global challenges.

0203_SFU-BCCAI_EBlast-600x400-1_NorthVanIn just three years, BCCAI has invested $17M+ to support 32 industry-led projects, trained 1,650+ highly qualified personnel, and helped agri-businesses launch 23 new products and services—driving $19M in revenue growth across the sector.

Project partner QuantoTech created fully compostable packaging that meets food safety standards while eliminating plastic from the supply chain. A co-investment with Aeroroot helped them develop AeroWalls, a vertical-farming system for herbs using 90% less water and no soil.

These partnerships show how BCCAI bridges research, industry, and producers to deliver real-world impact. Growers and agritech businesses across the Lower Mainland are leading the next wave of agricultural innovation. And BCCAI is committed to providing the support they need to grow, in North Vancouver and beyond.
