What’s new at CapU

It’s an exciting time at Capilano University. This year, the doors opened to the Fulmer Family Centre for Childhood Studies, a first-of-its-kind facility in Western Canada. Purpose-built to integrate early childhood care and education, the centre brings researchers, students, educators and children together under one roof—advancing innovation in early years research and practice. It’s also home to a second on-campus childcare facility, expanding vital services for families in our community.

Fall 2025 brings even more growth with three new baccalaureate programs: the Bachelor of Arts in Writing & Literature, Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies), and Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Sciences). And through a new partnership with the Whistler Film Festival Society, CapU is helping develop homegrown talent to fuel B.C.’s film industry.

Opportunities to connect

Work-Integrated Learning
CapU’s Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) programs are where classroom theory comes to life. From practicums and internships to co-op placements and course-based projects, WIL connects local businesses with students and faculty to exchange fresh ideas, solve real-world challenges and shape tomorrow’s workforce. Partnerships run year-round, giving organizations access to emerging talent while helping students gain the confidence and skills to make a difference.

Career Development Centre

The Career Development Centre (CDC) builds connections through events and experiential learning opportunities that link students and alumni directly to employers. The CDC connects the CapU community with industry representatives through industry days, hiring fairs, mentorship, job shadowing, company tours or featured spotlights. Employers can post opportunities for free on the Career Hub and collaborate on applied research, service learning and other projects while enhancing their visibility in the community.

Executive-in-Residence

For those seeking strategic insight and guidance, CapU’s Executive-in-Residence (EIR) program is a unique bridge between business and education. Current EIR Keith Cross, a seasoned North Shore business leader with over four decades of experience, offers his expertise as a sounding board for both students and organizations navigating today’s business landscape.
