Advocacy in Action: North Vancouver Chamber
As a proud member of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce network, the North Vancouver Chamber brings local business insight to the provincial table. During B.C. Chamber of Commerce Week (February 9–13), we recognize the vital role chambers play in uncertain times—listening to business, bridging perspectives, and advancing solutions through constructive dialogue with government.
By connecting North Vancouver’s voice to a network representing 32,000+ businesses, we help turn local realities into collective progress for stronger communities and a more competitive B.C.
Our advocacy reflects the priorities of our members and the real challenges facing businesses today.
In the past year, we have:
- Called for fair property tax reform to protect local businesses from disproportionate commercial tax burdens and support long-term economic stability.
- Advanced a policy to remove interprovincial trade barriers—unanimously adopted by the B.C. Chamber—to help businesses operate and compete more easily across Canada.
- Hosted a Conversation with the MLAs, creating direct dialogue between provincial representatives and the business community on major economic and policy issues.
- Spoke up on pay parking changes in our community, ensuring the business perspective was represented in public discussions impacting local commerce.
- Renewed our call for B.C.-built ferries, advocating for economic benefits and local job creation tied to major procurement decisions.
- Advanced a policy to reduce electricity costs for small businesses and non-profits—unanimously approved at the B.C. Chamber AGM—calling for reforms to the BC Hydro Small General Service rate structure to ensure fair and reasonable rates amid rising operating costs.
- Elevated the senior service sector, bringing attention to workforce and operational challenges through our dedicated industry forum.
The North Vancouver Chamber works to support, connect, and lead our local business community every day. We provide resources, education, and programs that help businesses grow, create meaningful networking and mentorship opportunities, and convene leaders to address emerging issues.
B.C. Chamber Week is a powerful reminder that when chambers collaborate, we amplify the voice of business and help shape policies that build a stronger future for North Vancouver and beyond.
