What exactly is a Chamber?
A Chamber, or Chamber of Commerce, is a not-for-profit organization that’s governed by the Board of Trade Act. It’s a network of local businesses, professionals, and other community groups working towards furthering their collective interests within the community. The members elect a board of directors to set policy for the Chamber. The board then hires a President, CEO or Executive Director and other staff to run the organization.
And what do we do?
We support a strong, local business community that is thriving thanks to North Vancouver’s growing and affluent population, an increase in its younger demographics, and an injection of millions of dollars into its industry. We make business ownership easier by offering a variety of services and benefits to help members promote their business, develop strong networks, and overcome obstacles to business growth.
To be the most respected voice of the business community by promoting the sustainable economic environment and livability of North Vancouver.
We will maximize North Vancouver’s economic opportunities by helping existing business, attracting and facilitating new business and advocating supportive business policies.
The key areas of focus for the 2016 – 2018 Strategic Plan are to:
- Strengthen and Grow our Membership
- Support Economic Development initiatives
- Be the voice of business and engage the greater community
- Be effective and efficient operationally
