The Province currently has two tax credit programs: the Provincial Industrial Property Tax Credit which gives a 60% school tax reduction to Class 4 (Major Industry), and the Provincial Farm Land Tax Credit which gives a 50% school tax reduction to Class 9 (Farm) properties.  The Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development does not take these credits into account when reporting property tax rates.

Electricity (BC Hydro)

BC Hydro operates 31 hydroelectric facilities and two thermal generating plants, providing 4 millioncustomers with reliable power and the third lowest residential rates surveyed in North America. They deliver electricity to customers through a network of more than 79,000 kilometres of transmission and distribution lines.

BC Hydro is a Crown corporation, owned by the government and people of British Columbia. It’s their job to generate and purchase reliable and affordable electricity for our businesses and residents.

Natural Gas (FortisBC)

FortisBC provides safe and reliable natural gas, electricity, alternative energy, and related services to residential, business, and industry customers in BC.

FortisBC delivers approximately 21 % of the total energy consumed in BC, which is the most energy delivered by any utility in the province. Whether delivering electricity, natural gas or propane, their more than 2,200 employees serve approximately 1.1 million customers in 135 communities.
