Applications to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit are now open!
The earliest you can apply depends on the month in which you were born.
January thru March – Mondays
April thru June – Tuesday
July thru September – Wednesdays
October thru December – Thursdays
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are freebies open to anyone who qualifies.
There are two ways to apply for Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB): online and through an automated phone system.
Online, you apply through the CRA’s My Account portal. If you don’t have one, here’s how to register for it. If applying by phone, call 1-800-959-2019 or 1-800-959-2041.
“My message to Canada’s employers is this: get ready to rehire people,” he said. Finance Minister Bill Morneau said the online application portal for the program should be up and running in about three to six weeks, and he expects funds will begin to flow in approximately six weeks. Employers that apply will have to show their revenue fell at least 30% compared to the same month last year.
Today, the Government of Canada announced further details of the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit. (This benefit replaces the previously announced Emergency Care Benefit and the Emergency Support Benefit.)
